Sure, you recycle… but are you doing it correctly? We teamed up with Austin Resource Recovery to share some tips (and common mistakes) to help you recycle right!
PS – These tips are designed for Austin Resource Recovery curbside customers (who are primarily residents of single-family homes). If you live in a large apartment or condo complex in Austin, your trash and recycling is picked up by a private hauling company, so they might have different rules and recommendations than those listed below.
In particular, some apartment complexes/condos offer valet pickup service and specifically instruct their tenants to put recycling into bags. Likely, they are just using the bags to make it easier to pick up the recycling from your doorstep and then emptying the bags of their contents before taking them to a recycling facility.
Have any more recycling/trash/composting related questions? Use Austin Resource Recovery’s “What Do I Do With…” tool to figure out which items you can and can’t recycle/compost.
