If you’ve never been to the East Austin Studio Tour (EAST) before, block out your schedule because it’s back on November 16th – 17th and November 23rd – 24th.
What’s EAST?
It’s a free, annual, self-guided event showcasing hundreds of artists in Austin. All you have to do to participate is download the app or check out the online map to find a list of the artists and locations participating.
Exhibits and installations will be open each day from noon to 6pm. On top of that, there will also be several special events happening in association with the tour. We’ve put together a list of some of the eco-related EAST art events below or you can check out the full event schedule here>>
Events:
- Smart Trips Austin EAST Bike Tour – explore EAST by bike. November 16th from noon to 3:30pm, starting at TEMPO Convergence
- Urgent Art Mail – help make postcards to raise awareness about the need to protect Texas’ plant and animal species. November 16th from 1pm to 3pm at 1311 Harvey Street
- Painting with Pigs – pigs from the Central Texas Pig Rescue will be creating one-of-a-kind works of art for you to take home. November 16th from 1pm to 4pm at CRAFT
- Cortes Collective Opening Reception of their New Space – the new space of the Cortes Collective (which supports artist exchange between Austin and Mexico City) includes a herbal apothecary, garden, and space for mixed media art, film, and music. November 16th from 1pm to 5pm at 2404 E 7th St, Unit C
- Creative Action Community Art Sunday – event will include live portrait drawing by professional and youth artists and a sustainability story booth. November 17th from 2pm to 5pm
- Odditree Pocket Guide Launch Party + Cherished Wood Reception – get a complimentary copy of the Odditree Pocket Guide (a lovingly curated guide to Austins most peculiar trees) while enjoying tree-themed drinks. November 23rd from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at 3508 E Cesar Chavez St.
- Soul Studio Opening Party – watch live demos of Soul Studio’s botanical dye process, hang out in a tea lounge, and enjoy a night of soulstainability. November 23rd from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at 2511 E 6th St, E.
- Smart Trips Austin EAST Purple Pedal Tour – explore EAST by bike. November 24th from 2pm to 4:30pm at 5811 Berkman Dr, #140
- Givens Pool Community & Forklift Danceworks – meet the artists and community members behind Givens Swims, a dance for a city pool and its people. November 16th and 17th from noon to 6pm at 3811 E 12th St, #1936.
