• Where can you find the most sustainable egg in Austin? The Ultimate Scavenger Hunt for the Sustainable Egg is designed to help you collect the information you need to put food gardens and backyard poultry for eggs in your own backyard. Explore public places with camera in hand. Participate in our chicken eggstravaganza of events and share your photo answers online. We hope you'll discover how you can make it happen in your own piece of Austin.
• There will be four weekend events over 21 days. Each weekend features an information packed event, covering backyard poultry and organic food gardens, sustainable policy in Austin, and Austin friendly ways to get started. Participate in one week or all four events. You can pick up mini scavenger hunt lists at each event.
• The Ultimate Scavenger Hunt for the Sustainable Egg uncovers the rewards of backyard poultry and organic food gardens. Discover the benefits of locally grown food. Find the easiest backyard foods to produce in Austin. Find out what "sustainable" means when it comes to eggs and gardens. Compost and recycle and create food at the same time. Learn about helpful City of Austin programs and ordinances to guide your efforts, and local resources to make it happen now.
• RULES: Take at least 12 Austin style photos finds that show what you've found on your hunt for local poultry, eggs, coops, vegetable gardens, composting, and recycling that you can do in your own backyard. The top photo series wins a $50 cash prize courtesy of the Brazos Valley Poultry Club. Submit the photo story of your personal Ultimate Scavenger Hunt for the Sustainable Egg to hunt@austincooptour.org.
Watch for more details on the weekly scavenger hunt. Make sure to get your photos for the Scavenger Hunt in by 4/23.
