Sarah Eckhardt is accepting applications for a Precinct 2 appointment to the Austin Travis CountySustainable Food Policy Board for a two-year term beginning February 22, 2011. The Board is made up of 13 members; of those members six are appointed by the Travis County Commissioners Court and seven by the Austin City Council. The Board was created to advise both the City Council and the Commissioners Court in the areas concerning the availability of safe, nutritious, local and sustainably-grown food and to aid in the coordinating of local government activities with those of nonprofit and community organizations and local businesses. Persons with expertise and/or interests in these areas are encouraged to apply. Click here for the Board bylaws (which include the duties of the Board).
The Sustainable Food Policy Board meets monthly on the fourth Monday from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm at the City of Austin’s Boards & Commissions Room (301 W. 2nd St., Austin, TX 78701). Additionally, subcommittee meetings and work sessions will be scheduled as needed.
Applicants must currently reside in Precinct 2 in order to be considered. To find out if you live in Precinct 2 input a name here. Then click on the certificate number link and voter registration info. will appear, including precinct number.
Applicants must submit:
1. A letter stating goals for service on the Board and a commitment to serve the complete two-year term and attend 80% or more of the monthly meetings of the Board;
2. A resume;
3. An Application for Appointment; and
4. A completed Non-Conflict of Interest Affidavit.
