The City of Austin is one of seven cities nationwide to have just received a $25,000 grant to help fund a plan to better connect children with nature. Teams from the Mayor’s Office, City of Austin departments, the Austin Independent School District, University of Texas, andWestcave Outdoor Discovery Center will all be working together on this exciting new project. As UT researcher Andrew Springer said in a press release announcing the grant, “Given research on the benefits of connecting children to nature on children’s health, we desperately need more coordinated efforts to expand opportunities for children and their families to be able to engage with the “outdoors” in Texas.” More info>>
