Austin Justice Coalition (AJC), a dedicated organization committed to creating positive change in our community, is thrilled to join forces with the Hogg Foundation, a champion for mental health and well-being.

In line with AJC’s mission, we eagerly embrace the National Day of Racial Healing (NDORH) by organizing a special event on January 14th, 2024. We extend a warm invitation to the community to participate in an enriching experience where we will guide attendees through a series of healing activities, placing a spotlight on the profound connection between race, racism, and mental health.

Join us in this transformative event, where we collectively foster engagement and facilitate healing discussions on the critical issues of racism, bias, inequity, and injustice.

Expect an event that not only enlightens but empowers, as we explore the intersections of race and well-being. We will have free on-site childcare for children under 13, free food and refreshments, and free public transportation passes. RSVP here.

Austin Justice Coalition’s annual event, “Black Art Matters,” set for Friday, November 3rd, isn’t just an ordinary gathering— it is a purposeful, intimate celebration and fundraiser for the Austin Justice Coalition.

Join us for a warm evening, a fusion of artistry, community, and philanthropy under the rich theme of “Homecoming Melodies: Embracing Kin, Connection, and Liberation.”

This soiree centers the concept of “Homecoming Melodies,” which celebrates family, community, and the co-creative, physio-sonic atmosphere of familiarity and subversion that is our journey toward Black liberation. Last year, we played, danced, and held each other in the funky brightness of a cosmic afro-future. This year, however, we honor the spirit of Sankofa in recognizing that we must bring the wealth of our roots with us to go forward. There is no Black liberation, in theory or practice, without receiving the depths of Grandma’s wisdom and understanding the alchemical science of Grandpa’s gait.

In the Sankofa of the ancestral homecoming melodies, we are welcomed into our bodies, the space where we are initiated onto our unique paths to access all we need to create worlds of change by those who have traversed the path long before us. Our theme is rooted in acknowledging the creative and childlike aspects within ourselves and the solace, safety, and simplicity of creating comforting spaces for others. It’s a tribute to the bonds formed through kinship, the memories that live on through us, and the power that has always existed at our feet.

On this homecoming evening, we invite you to immerse yourself in a space filled with Black art, Black music, cherished family, friends, and kinfolk, and bask in the abundant opportunities to rally behind your home team ——your Self, your ancestors, and for one night—— your homies and organizers at the Austin Justice Coalition.

Carver Museum ATX and Austin Justice Coalition come together for a Community Revival and Remembrance Ceremony. On Juneteenth proper, we gather in unity to honor victims of police violence in Texas, and create a safe space for communal mourning and grieving as it relates to the ongoing fight for Black liberation.

Indigenous earth-based practitioners, faith leaders, healers and bodyworkers will gather to help elevate the spirit of our fallen sisters, brothers, and non-binary community members. Join us in song, prayer, and meditation as we honor our Black ancestors and gather our strength to continue doing the work to liberate our communities. 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 19, at the Carver Museum ATX. Attendees are strongly encouraged to wear all white or bright, neutral colors.

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN | https://bit.ly/3DM1CG3 |

Get paid & certified to advocate for social justice #THEAJCWAY through our new 12-month training program! Register for our 2nd informational webinar on May 7th.

WHY? The intersecting issues that impact Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities in Austin require constant vigilance and engagement for effective change. At AJC, we believe that building capacity and anti-racist leadership in combination with skills training and direct experience with groups of dedicated advocates will hasten our impact and materially improve the lives of BIPOC communities in Austin – a central part of our mission. We know that what we do and how we do it is unique. That’s why, we’ve developed the RAA program, and we’re eager to get co-conspiring with you!

We’ve learned what works and what doesn’t, and while we don’t always have the capacity to fight every fight, we believe that sharing our knowledge and experience with the intention of hastening our impact will increase the power of our community. The more leaders WE have, the harder THEY fall.
